Jamestown Foundation: Kadyrov can be brought down by Mujahideen any time

Publication time: 9 September 2010, 13:07

An English-language newsletter Daily Monitor Eurasia, published in the US by Jamestown Foundation, in its issue dated September 7, 2010 (Volume 7, Number 159), published a detailed article entitled "Attack on Kadyrov's Home Village Damages Chechnya's Image of Stability".

The article is devoted to the successful operation by Mujahideen on Kadyrov's stronghold. Half of the materials in it was taken from the Kavkaz Center. Summing up the operation, the website makes following conclusions:

"The brazen attack on Kadyrov's stronghold village signifies first and foremost the level of control over information coming out of Chechnya.

Killings of and threats against independent journalists and rights activists, and restrictions on media, have created a situation in which no one knows exactly what is going on in Chechnya.

Kadyrov managed to convince most people that he controls the situation.

Many see Kadyrov's rule as the lesser evil, considering the bloodbath Chechnya underwent when the Russian army fought the pro-independence movement in the republic.

Now, however, it appears that Kadyrov's rule and the stability in Chechnya equated with it rest on very shaky ground and can plausibly be brought down any time".

It is to be recalled that a group of martyrs participated in the attack on Kadyrov's hometown.

The operation began between 3 and 4 am Sunday, August 29, 2010. The main forces of the Mujahideen paved the way for a martyrs detachment to the village, destroying checkpoints with armored vehicles

10 martyrs drove into the village in three vehicles and dispersed into group of 2 to 3 fighters, and attacked the puppets.

One of the teams broke to the Kadyrov's house, and according to data from the field, the puppet ringleader's residence was shelled with RPGs. There is no precise information on whereabouts of Kadyrov at that time. It is known that the Mujahideen called him on the radio, but he did not answer.

The battle within the precincts of the village lasted for more than 2.5 hours. The main forces of the Mujahideen cut off for some time the attempts of Kadyrovites and Russian invaders to bring additional forces to the village, although there were more than a thousand puppet soldiers, armed to the teeth, who were deployed in Khosi-Yurt.

It is to be mentioned in this regard that there is still no full information on how the operation proceeded. As there is no exact information about how many Kadyrov's puppets were killed.

The Mujahideen give figures of 10 to 15 eliminated enemies, among whom there were several people close to Kadyrov. According to the Mujahideen, more than 20 puppet soldiers were injured.

It is to be mentioned that according to occupation sources, 6 Kadyrov's policemen were killed and 18 others wounded during the raid of the Mujahideen. It is also claimed that 7 unnamed villagers were injured. Thus, according to the version of the occupiers, the total casualties of the puppets made 31 elements.

Sources in the field reported that the houses of the ringleader of the MIA, Ruslan Alkhanov, his deputy Roman Edilov, the OMON (Special Task Police Unit) gang ringleader named Alikhan, the puppet prefect of Gudermes district, Vakha Nasukhanov, a MP of the Kadyrov's parliament, Khasika Khizriyev, and etc, had been shot on or set ablaze during the special operation in Khosi-Yurt.

Russian sources acknowledged that the ringleader of the "Grozny city interior department" gang, a certain Tagirov, had been seriously wounded in Khosi-Yurt.

Aslambek Elemkhanov, one of the commanders of Kadyrov's puppet gangs, a cousin of Vakhit Usmayev (call sign "Jihad"), commander of the regimen # 2 named after Kadyrov, who had been rewarded by Russia for kidnapping, murder and torture of Chechens, was killed in his house.

The Aslambek Elemkhanov's house, as well as several of his cars, earned through kidnappings, were burnt by Chechen Mujahideen. A few people from among ordinary Kadyrov's puppets and security members were also eliminated in his house.

A certain Chuchkhadzhiyev, a security guard of Kadyrov, was killed in his house at the same night during the targeted raid. He was shot dead straight in his bed.

This element was known as one of the most active kidnappers and master in tortures. He was also known for mocking at corpses of the killed people.

A son of Khaybarkh Khizriyev and a cousin of Khasik Khizriyev, was also killed. This puppet was one of the elements close to Kadyrov.

The executed Khizriyev was known for abductions, tortures and murders. In 2004, he took part in an abduction of a woman with a one year old baby in her arms. He was famous for refusing the woman a bottle of milk for the baby.

This is only a small part of the information of what really happened in Khosi-Yurt. Kadyrov is doing everything possible that the truth about the Mujahideen raid on his hideout could not leak outside Khosi-Yurt.
