The real enemy of Azerbaijan is Moscow, not Yerevan

Publication time: 29 July 2010, 23:40

A foreign policy adviser to the first three presidents of Azerbaijan, a political scientist Vafoy Guluzade, told about the true enemy of Azerbaijanis in an interview on July 29:

"The Russian General Staff has long developed a plan for the resumption of war against Azerbaijan, to seize new territories, using Armenians. But the present political situation is clearly not conducive for these plans.

Baku's real enemy is Moscow, not Yerevan. It is clearly that the Azerbaijan will never be superior over Russia, whatever the efforts. Besides, a large number of Armenians is living in Russia as its citizens, who are doing military service, and are connected with the FSB and the GRU. At an appropriate time, they too will be sent to fight against us.

Let's not forget that the Armenian army was also trained by Russian instructors. They often conduct maneuvers on the occupied Azerbaijani territories: in the Agdam district and in the Terter district. And who built engineering structures along the ceasefire line?

We, for some reason say, say nothing about that, and I would say, it is wrong. Magnificent Russian defenses have been constructed there. The quality of these impregnable fortifications virtually guarantees terrible casualties to Azerbaijan if it decides to attack them.

Armenians carried out mass-scale crimes against Azerbaijanis. First, in the time of the Soviet Union in 1988, they were carried out under the leadership of Gorbachev, i am speaking about the last and most bloody wave of deportation of Azerbaijanis from Armenia.

Other crime are the invasion of Azerbaijan by Russian troops on January 20, 1990, and killing of civilians. The third crime was the genocide of Azerbaijanis in Khojaly, in the city, captured by armored vehicles of the 366th Russian motorized rifle regiment".
