German Ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder deserves his payments from the Russians

Publication time: 12 March 2010, 10:23

A former German Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who is working for Russians in their Gazprom Company, spoke against Ukraine and Georgia joining NATO. He said that, speaking at a German-Russian Forum in Moscow.

Schroeder, as the Russian Itar-Tass news agency reported, said:

"It must be quite clear that Ukraine and Georgia joining the NATO will not be in the interests of stability in Europe. Instead of bringing more stability to Europe, this step may make it even less stable, he said, adding that he believes that this idea became more obvious in Ukraine after the recent elections.

As for Georgia, the former German chancellor said, "it were the Georgians who unleashed the war in the Caucasus, and independent research workers confirmed it. It demonstrates that there are people in Georgia with whom it is impossible to deal with".

Tbilisi already commented on Schroeder's remarks, saying that it would be surprising to hear other words from a Russian Gazprom's official, "after all, he get lots money there".

Georgia is also not very surprised that some Germans media outlet are engaged in repeating Russian propaganda clichés under the influence of the ex-chancellor who works for Gazprom. "After all, the Russians spend several hundred million dollars every year on such persons as Schroeder", analysts in Tbilisi say.
