Udugov: ''For the time being neither Tbilisi nor Washington has not appealed to us with any requests''

Publication time: 9 August 2008, 14:29

Kavkaz-Center has asked Chief of the Informational and Analytical Service of the Caucasus Emirate, Movladi Udugov, to comment on the outbreak of hostilities between Russia and Georgia and the statements of Moscow's readiness to sent the so-called "South Caucasus Volunteers" from the Northern Caucasus.

Movladi Udugov: I would like to remind that past February Amir of the Caucasus Emirate Dokka Umarov issued an order to set up a special monitoring group that will monitor the situation around Georgian-Russian relations, because those events are taking place right at the borders of the Caucasus Emirate, and are directly affecting our interests.

The group has informational and operational departments. The monitoring group obtains and processes quite massive amount of data related to policies, as well as intelligence.

Earlier we had reported that the group's operational department is functioning on the territory of the Caucasus Emirate and is monitoring military activity of Russian occupational troops, their movement routes, especially near the border with Georgia, transfer of troops and equipment, visits to the region by high-ranking military officials, activity of intelligence services, including the military intelligence of the Russian Defense Ministry.

For example, on the eve another operative information has been received saying two military convoys moved from Khankala military base and Sheikh Mansoor Airport (Russian occupation base of "Severniy" (North)) towards Wilayah of Iriston (North Ossetia). On Saturday morning information reported that both convoys moved to Roksk Pass.

Intelligence data coming from South Ossetia and Abkhazia are constantly being processed.

The situation was discussed at the latest Shura Council of the South-Western Front, which took place last April, and as it was reported, was not being disclosed.

I would like to remind that we through the media had officially informed interested parties that the relevant structures of the Caucasus Emirate track Russian activity toward the Georgian direction.

I would like also to remind that our secret service had warned that Russia planned to start war against Georgia in August.

I would like to state that the mountain regions of the Caucasus Emirate, from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea, is a zone where the Armed Forces of the Caucasus Emirate are operating.

For the time being neither Tbilisi nor Washington has not appealed to us with any requests or offers.

The so-called "volunteers" that is threatening to come forward against Georgia is just a sound effect of a propaganda assault by Moscow against Tbilisi. Puppet formations of pro-Moscow regimes in the occupied territory of the Caucasus Emirate are already involved in the war against Georgia, so all the Kremlin's statements regarding this and video footages in the Russian TV channels are only propaganda curtain.

The military leadership of the Caucasus Emirate is closely monitors developments in Georgia. I can not say what actions could be taken from our side in this situation. This issue is beyond my competence.

But I clearly can say that the command of the Caucasus Emirate is following with great interest the development of the situation".
