Theory of 'unity of religion' is Aqidah of kufr, atheism and heresy

Publication time: 3 July 2008, 11:02

Sufists (rather, those of its followers who attained the so-called "summit", i.e. the stage of "Unity of the Existence") claim that all religions are one: Judaism, Christianity, Heathenism, Communism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Islam and other religious doctrines. And whatever the religion is, it is the same as other religions, both Iman and Tawhid to them is same as Shirk and Kufr, and Islam is same as fire-worship. And all religions are correct regardless of the differences or whom they worship.

Ibn Arabi says: The creatures have different beliefs about Allah. And I believe in everything that they claim.

He also says:

There was a time when I was condemning my companion

If his religion and my religion were not close.

Now my heart takes any pictures:

Pastures of gazelles, monastery of monks,

And temple of the idols, and Kaaba with the ones going around it,

And scrolls of the Torah, and scrolls of the Koran.

I profess the religion of love, wherever its caravans may head....

The Religion - my religion and my faith.

And here Ibn Arabi warns his followers from believing in one single religion and rejecting others: "Beware of accepting one religion and rejecting others - you will miss out on many blessings; what's more, you will miss out on the real knowledge of it, so be ye the matter for forms of all religious doctrines. Indeed, Allah is above limiting the religion by just one religion. Everyone is on the right way, and whoever is on the right way - the reward awaits him, and whoever gets the reward is happy, and whoever is happy deserves contentment."

Ahlu-s-Sunna wa al Jamaa are convinced that the only true religion is Islam, the religion with which Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent, and all other religions are false. The Most High said, "Indeed, the Religion of Allah is Islam" (The Family of Imran, 19)

And the Most High said, "And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers." (The Family of Imran, 85)

This verse (ayat) clearly points at the fact that among the religions there are those that are accepted and those that are not. The religion that is accepted is Islam, and all other religions are not accepted. It means that they are false, since had they been true, Allah would have accepted them and their followers would have been in eternal peace and not among the lost... How can it agree with the claim about unity of religions and their correctness?

Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his disciples were fighting against heathenism and idolatry. He destroyed idols that were inside and outside the Kaaba, worshiped by various tribes. Why? Would he have been fighting against these religious beliefs had they been correct and equal to Islam? The answer is obvious and clear.

We are asking Allah not to deprive us of intellect and consciousness, as He did with Sufis.

Conclusion: the theory of "unity of religions" is Aqidah of Kufr, atheism and heresy that makes the believer in it a kafir without the slightest doubt.
